Final Major Project
Underpinnings
This element formed part of my final major project costume collection and addressed the challenge of achieving a period-appropriate silhouette on a male body. The underpinnings were adapted to redistribute volume and create the required eighteenth-century proportions.
I constructed a pair of pocket bags featuring a Laura Ashley floral print, integrating additional padding through hip pads sewn into the underside. This allowed the silhouette to be built subtly through structure rather than surface styling, enhancing shape while maintaining wearability and historical logic.
This work demonstrates my ability to adapt historical under-structures across different bodies, using discreet construction techniques to achieve silhouette without compromising comfort or movement.
